Andrea completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Applied Mathematics at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1999. She has been a Registered Physiotherapist and practicing Clinician for over 16 years.
Andrea has taken several post-graduate courses to enhance her physiotherapy knowledge and offer the best care to help her patients. Most recently, she has completed specialized training and has developed a special interest in Women’s Health and the treatment of Female Urinary Incontinence and other related problems involving the pelvis. This area of Women’s Health can often affect women of all ages but is sometimes overlooked and undertreated.
Using Biofeedback, Neuromuscular Stimulation, Internal Manual Treatment Techniques of the Pelvic Floor Musculature, and Strengthening and Re-Education of the Pelvic Floor, physiotherapy treatment techniques can be quite effective in treating problems in this area and improving the quality of life for many women.
Some other areas of interest that Andrea has had additional training is in the areas of Manual Therapy, Mobilization and Neuro-Orthopaedics, Soft Tissue Active Release, Muscle Energy Retraining, Athletic Taping, Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, Mulligan Mobilization Techniques, McKenzie Treatment Techniques for the Cervical and Lumbar Spine for Postural and Discogenic pain, and specialized treatment techniques from the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute for the Cervical and Lumbar Spine and the Shoulder Joint Complex.
When Andrea isn’t working full-time as a physiotherapist and helping members of the community achieve their optimal health goals, she is taking on her favourite role of all, being a Single Mom. Andrea enjoys spending all her free time with her fabulous daughter and her extended circle of wonderful and supportive family and friends.
